Is Nick Arrojo giving style advice to Providence Mayor Angel Taveras? Only the hairdressers know for sure. Photo: Seiren Salon.

We hope everyone KNEW what to wear this week when celebrity stylist Nick Arrojo came to Providence. The amiable hair stylist featured on TLC's What Not To Wear spent two days with Stephanie Lisi, owner of Seiren Salon, hobnobbing and promoting his new line of products. Arrojo shared reception cocktails at the Jewelry/Knowledge District salon with locals including Angel Taveras, then whisked off to dinner at Mills Tavern. Arrojo tucked in at the Westin Hotel, and then spent the next day back at Seiren coaching stylists. Considering Arrojo has styled celebrities including supermodels Melissa Keller, Yamila Diaz, and Karen Ferrari; actors Minnie Driver and Liev Schreiber; musicians Bryan Adams and Bernard Sumner; and British comedian and performer Victoria Wood, Rhode Islanders might want to get a little celebrity effect from Seiren's stylists.

Guy Fieri update: We spotted him on arrival in Providence last week, and the Food Network megastar did not disappoint over the next few days of his stay. The Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host not only dined at Federal Hill's Mediterraneo as we reported, but went on to film at the Edgewood Cafe in Cranston and the Italian Corner in East Providence. Fieri also raved via his very active Twitter account about the Ocean House in Watch Hill. "Killer place," he pronounced the resort, which last saw heartthrob Hugh Jackman tweeting its wonders.

Legendary rocker Lindsey Buckingham was also in Providence this week, taking the stage at Lupo's on his solo tour (minus his equally legendary on-and-off band Fleetwood Mac). The guitarist played his show amidst rumors on the Twitterverse that he and front woman Stevie Nicks might reunite to record again. The rumors flew after Buckingham was recorded in a radio documentary by Pete Paphides saying "I would love to work with Stevie [Nicks] again." Will it take a Landslide this time? We'll see.

The very next night, luminous Dar Williams was just across the bay in Fall River at The Narrows Center for the Arts. The singer-songwriter is a favorite at folk festivals and has toured with artists including (Brown University alumnae) Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patty Griffin, Ani DiFranco, The Nields, Shawn Colvin, Girlyman, Joan Baez, and Catie Curtis. (Those with a good sense of history will remember that Williams played the Newport Folk Festival all the way back in 1998 and was back on the stage at Fort Adams last summer). Williams just released her latest (and ninth) studio album, "In the Time of Gods," produced by Kevin Killen, who has worked with the likes of Peter Gabriel, U2, Tori Amos and Elvis Costello. Musicians Shawn Colvin and Larry Campbell make guest appearances on Williams' latest, as does Rob Hyman from The Hooters. The album features 10 songs with themes of social issues, and Williams featured songs from the album as well as from her 20-year career on Thursday night.
