RI Philharmonic Music School Announces January Concerts

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra has announced two concerts to take place this month. They will present their second concert of the season, titled “A Day at the Museum,” Sunday January 18 at 3pm at the VETS in Providence. The concert will feature the Symphony Orchestra, Repertory Orchestra, String Orchestra, and the Intermediate String Ensemble and String Ensemble. Tickets are $11 adult, $6 student and senior citizen, and are available at the door on the day of the performance.

On Tuesday, January 27th, The Youth Wind Ensembles will present their first concert of the season at Sapinsley Hall, Rhode Island College. The concert will include both the Senior Division and the Junior Division of the Youth Wind Ensembles. Tickets are $11 adult, $6 student and senior citizen, and are available through the Rhode Island College box office. The Senior Division performs Vaughn-Williams’ Flourish for Wind Band, March and Procession of Bacchus by Delibes/ arr. Osterling, Colgrass’ Old Churches, Holst’s Suite No. 2 in F, and Persichetti’s Pageant music of Bernstein, Grainger and Hanssen. The Junior Division performs the music of Holst, Ticheli, Christopher W. Johnson, W. Francis McBeth and John Philip Sousa.

I Love Lucy! Live On Stage

Set in 1952, this inventive musical places viewers in the seats of the Desilu Playhouse during a live studio audience filming of two classic I Love Lucy episodes. Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel come to life alongside 1950 advertising jingles performed by the Crystaltone Singers.
