The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation announced that Alex and Ani will sponsor an appearance by singer, songwriter, and “American Idol” contestant, Jimmie Allen at Flames of Hope: A Celebration of Life.™

Get ready for some Matchbox 20 and One Republic

Jimmie Allen was one of the top 40 contestants in the 2011 season of the FOX reality competition series.  The 26 year-old Delaware native describes his style to be “a mix of Matchbox 20 and One Republic”.

“I am humbled and honored about being a part of Flames of Hope,” said Jimmie Allen, who lost an aunt to breast cancer.  “I look forward to performing and speaking to people, in hopes of giving them strength and a good time.”

Allen, joined by his band Mercury Lane, will perform on Saturday evening at 9:30pm, as well as make special appearances at the Flames of Hope Opening Reception on Friday evening at 6:30pm and the Pink Party on Saturday evening at 5:30pm.

Flames of Hope

The Flames of Hope event has grown into one of the largest awareness events in the Northeast, with an estimated 110,000 people expected to gather for the three inspirational days of education, support and hope.  The event, which is taking place on October 7-9 at WaterFire in Providence, was created to promote breast cancer awareness and education and honor people living with breast cancer.

Alex and Ani bangle for HOPE

Last week, it was announced that Alex and Ani created the HOPE Expandable Wire Bangle, as part of its Charity by Design Initiative, to benefit The Gloria Gemma Foundation.  20% of the proceeds from the sales of the HOPE Bangle ($28) and a special three-piece set ($78) will be donated to the Foundation.  The Bangle will be introduced and available at Flames of Hope, and will then be available at Alex and Ani retail locations as well as on the Alex and Ani website starting October 18th.
