Alex and Ani
Formerly known as the Fleet and Bank of America Skating Rink, Providence's top outdoor recreation spot has a new corporate sponsor - Cranston-based jewelry company
Alex and Ani.
The ice skating rink in Providence has been the hub of winter activity since opening in the 1990's under the sponsorship of Fleet Bank and then-Mayor Vincent Cianci.
The rink was completed in 1998 and was the brainchild of Superintendent of Parks Nancy L. Derrig. Each winter as many as 750,000 skate on the ice, making the facility one of the biggest recreation/tourism spots in Rhode Island.
