Fabulous Itchies lead singer Ty Jesso knows where to scratch.

This Friday at Local 121 in downtown Providence, a trifecta of rock & roll excellence played The Speakeasy downstairs for what was a raucous time. Party Pigs, The Fabulous Itchies and Ravi Shavi were on the bill reinvigorating hearts and minds all over the room. The amps were turned up to eleven, the energy was at an all-time high and people were blown away.

Party Pigs

Party Pigs were up first and this duo chock full of seismic drums and guitar riffs that are guaranteed to send sparks up your spine pumped up the volume and had the power of a hurricane twirling around atomic bombs in every direction. "Blackout", "Instro", "Pretty Momma", "Separation", "AC/DC", "Fukn Party", "Back My Head", "Roadhouse" and "Pledge" was loud and peeled the paint off the walls. Party Pigs will be playing at AS220 next week on Saturday with Brooklyn band Parquet Courts and fellow Providencians Gavage, another great rock & roll show you gotta check out.

The Fabulous Itchies

Lead by the king of soul power Ty Jesso along with The Midnight Creeps' Jami Sleaze on drums, The Throttles and Amazing Crowns' Jack Hanlon on bass, Dennis Kelly on guitar and Jeffrey Underhill on the keys, Providence garage rock behemoths The Fabulous Itchies had all the ladies shaking their hips and brought the groove that made you move. "Slave Girl", "13 Women", "Things She Says", "Shot Down", "Teenage Head", "I'm a Rock N Roll", the Eddie Holland classic "Leaving Here", "Beg, Borrow & Steal", "Burn Me Up & Down", "Baby Whatcha Want Me To Do", "Ain't Got Time Enough For Love", "Kissing Cousins" and "One Upped" encompassed an awesome performance from one of the most legendary bands in Providence in the last 25 years. The Fabulous Itchies will be rocking Firehouse 13 on March 8th Atlantic Thrills, Fat Creeps and The Dividers. Rock & roll will be alive that night, so go there and feel the noise.

Ravi Shavi

Ravi Shavi was the icing on the musical cake, bringing the post-everything rock & roll that kicks like a soothing hit to the psyche. "Hobbies", "Mover Shaker", "InDecision", "Courage", "Kids", "Birds", "On Strike" and "Accidental Mental" highlighted one hell of a performance. Ravi Shavi have their self-titled debut album currently available and they're currently working on a new EP, definitely something to look forward to from one of the best bands out there today.
