Haven Brothers Hosts Hollywood - Megan Fox Movie Makes Appearance at Providence Diner
Sunday, November 07, 2021
Haven Brothers — the iconic Providence diner — recently played host to Hollywood.
The downtown fixture, situated next to City Hall, is a well-known destination for those seeking out burgers, fries, shakes, and more.
So perhaps it should come as no surprise that folks from the film Johnny and Clyde — produced by Chad Verdi and directed by Tom DeNucci, both Rhode Island natives— sought out the location for filming.

GoLocal caught up with Haven Brothers’ Ivan Giusti about having the diner tapped as a filming location.
Location, Location, Location
Giusti explained how things can change on a moment’s notice, when it comes to movie production.
“They originally were going to film the scene on Westminster Street so I drove and parked there,” said Giusti. “Then they decided to film at our [regular] location, so I drove back to our spot.”
And with it being hurricane season in New England, weather played a factor when the movie came to the diner last month.
“They also wanted to shoot the scene outside but that was the day it was the nor’easter…so they decided to film inside,” said Giusti.
Giusi noted, however, that Fox wasn’t on hand for the filming.
“She wasn’t there for the scene,” Giusti told GoLocal.
According to Deadline, “Johnny and Clyde are two serial killers who are madly in love and on an endless crime spree. They have their sights set on robbing a prosperous casino - owned by crime boss Alana [Megan Fox] and guarded by a demonic slayer that she commands.”
About Haven Brothers
Haven Brothers Diner is one of the oldest restaurants on wheels in America and was founded in 1893.
According to family history, widowed immigrant Anne Philomena Haven founded the diner business with the proceeds from her husband Patrick's life insurance policy. The "lunch cart," as it was known at the time, was purchased in Worcester, Massachusetts, and originally was a horse-drawn wagon.
The Haven family sold the business in 1953 to the Mollicone family, and later owners included Jack Ferry, and the Giusti family.
The iconic diner has had appearances on screen in the past, from Federal Hill and Brotherhood, and food shows Rachel Ray’s Tasty Travels, Bizarre Foods America, Man vs. Food Nation, and more.
