The 6th Annual Waterfront Reggae Festival is set to take place on Saturday, August 8th from noon to 10 p.m., rain or shine, at India Point Park in Providence. GoLocalTV has the preview.

Steel Pulse

Steel Pulse is a roots Reggae band from Birmingham, England and are the first non Jamaican act to win a Grammy award for "Best Reggae Album" with Babylon the Bandit in 1986.

Steel Pulse has released 11 studio albums including the bands largest single hit "Put Your Hoodies On."

Steel Pulse has headlined some of the largest Reggae Festivals in the world including Reggae Sunsplash USA, Jamaican Sunsplash and California's Reggae on the River Festival.

In 1978, Steel Pulse opened for Bob Marley & The Whalers on their European Tour.

Yellowman

Yellowman is Jamaica's first dance hall superstar and helped bring in a new era of Reggae music after the death of Bob Marley.

Yellowman earned a Grammy nomination for "Best Reggae Album" in 1985 and his rhythm can be heard on the Run DMC song "Roots Rap Reggae."

Third World

Third World is one of Jamaica's consistently popular cross over acts among international audiences, mixing elements of funk, R&B, pop, rock and rap.

Third World has received 10 Grammy nominations and have shared the stage with Santana, the Jackson 5, The Police, Whitney Houston, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and more.

In 1986, Third World United Nations Peace Medal for their contribution of music and their lyrical prose. 

Third World's hits include "Now That We Found Love," "96 Degrees of Shade," and "Try Jah Love."

Mighty Mystic

From St. Elizabeth Jamaica, Mighty Mystic had his first international hit with the song "riding in the clouds" in 2006. However, he became a house hold name in Reggae in 2010 after the release of his first album Wake up the World.

His most recent album Concrete World, released in 2014, landed at #3 on the iTunes Reggae Chart and #6 on Billboards Reggae Chart.

The Copacetics

Providence Rhode Island's own, the Copacetics, is a reggae and ska band but offer mixes of Jazz, soul, R&B, pop, doo wop and calypso.

The Copacetics self titled first album was called released in 2015 and was named "Album of the Month" by Reggae Steady Ska.

The Copacetics have performed with The Skatalites, The Slackers, Fishbone, The Toasters, Bim Skala Bim, King Hammond, The English Beat, The Pietasters, The Scofflaws and many more.
