Warwick Museum of Art: Rocky Point Exhibit Opening
Rocky Point comes alive in art, artifacts and film this month at the Warwick Museum of Art, and this weekend is the opening party. There's chowder and clamcakes on Friday from 7-9pm, plus more food for sale and beer and wine. On Saturday, the museum is hosting a day's worth of events for families from 9am-4pm. Don't miss David Bettencourt, director/producer of the Rocky Point documentary, You Must Be This Tall, who will talk and show the film at 10:30am. At 1:30pm there's a reunion of former Rocky Point employees on the steps of Warwick City Hall. For a full schedule of events, go here. Providence: Henry VIII
Beloved actor and director Bob Colonna has returned to the great outdoors to stage Shakespeare's Henry VIII, reviving TRIST, the site-specific Shakespeare group he founded in 1971. This summer, the play pops up at the Roger Williams National Memorial at 282 North Main Street in Providence, and promises to be bawdy and full of live music and comedy. Free, 8-10pm both nights. Wickford: Strawberry Festival at Smith's Castle
Nothing better than a fresh strawberry this weekend, and this historic house in South County puts on a great annual rite of strawberry passage. From noon-4pm, sample Smith's Castle's celebrated strawberry shortcake, shop craft and gift vendors, and let the kids play. 55 Richard Smith Drive, Wickford, 294-3521, $1 for ages 12 and up. Providence: Rhode Island Pride
You know it's coming when the Statehouse gets a rainbow light treatment, and talk turns to "the parade" and what iconic celebrity will perform at PrideFest during the day (last year it was Debbie Gibson). This city-wide celebration of the diversity of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community of RI and the region, culminates in an illuminated parade that winds through the streets of Downcity, featuring every drag queen whose heels have hit the local stages. And then there's those block parties. PrideFest starts at noon, parade at 8:30pm. For more, go here.

Block Island: Race Week
Hop over to Block Island for the kick-off of Premiere Racing's Block Island Race Week, the largest sailing event on the East Coast, which begins on Sunday and runs through Saturday, June 26. An estimated 120 boats will be docked in New Harbor and racing throughout the week. Family activities and social events are also planned in conjunction with the racing events.
