Gallery owner David Kelley is offering a deal you can’t refuse. $100 in gift certificates just to hang out on Federal Hill, sip wine, look at some new work by a diverse group of contemporary painters, sculptors, potters, jewelers and photographers...all that, AND he promises not to bite those of us without art degrees.

You’ve enjoyed the food, the personality, and the shopping on historic Atwells Avenue. You’ve appreciated the culture, noticed galleries lining the street. Maybe a painting or print hanging in a window caught your eye. But have you ever actually gone inside to check it out? Well, now you have no excuse: Galleries on the Hill is sponsoring a new event that hopes to raise awareness of and accessibility to the local art scene. First Fridays / Art Night Out begins tonight, May 7, and returns on the first Friday of every month.

The Galleries on the Hill, comprised of Gallery 17 Peck, Gallery Z, Royal Gallery and Chabot Fine Art Gallery, will open their doors to their new exhibitions, neighboring vendors will be open late, and all participants will have the chance to win a $100 gift certificate good anywhere on Federal Hill. Vote for your favorite piece in each gallery to enter the raffle. The art on display ranges from glass sculpture to classical still life to Native American jewelry, so you are guaranteed to find something you love, and will surely enjoy the search too. No purchase necessary, just bring your good taste and your good time!
