RI Native Sarah Potenza Headlines a show at The Met Friday

We're under the Rock and Roll umbrella this weekend with our musical picks for "5 Live Music Musts." Liz Longley Friday

Singer-Songwriter Liz Longley comes to Rhode Island Friday for a show at the Purple Cat Winery. Longley’s arresting voice is supported by a full band on her latest album Weightless, a change of pace from her more acoustic early recordings. A 2012 graduate of the Berklee School of Music, her credentials are solid - her songs have been featured on television shows including  “Switched at Birth” and “Army Wives.” Opener Emily Correia takes the stage at 7PM – Ticket information here.

Potenza and Davis Friday

RI homegirl Sarah Potenza is headlining a show Friday at The Met. Potenza’s star continues to shine since her appearance on NBC’s The Voice in 2015. With the release of Monster last summer, she’s been lauded in Rolling Stone, NPR, and No Depression. Even better she’s bringing fellow Voice alum Joshua Davis. RI’s best country duo, Cowboy and Lady, open at 8:30 tonight. All ages - details here.

PVD Tatoo Fest Saturday

Metal and Ink – what more could you want? Saturday at Fete it’s the 3rd annual Providence Tattoo and Music Fest. Show off your ink and rock to the tunes of numerous local bands – including Bury Your Dead, Revocation, and Bloodline Theory. David Lindley Saturday

David Lindley is one of the great guitarists of the last 50 years, known for his work with artists including Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon and Dolly Parton. He’s returning to the area Saturday night for a show at Lilypads in Wakefield. Lindley impressed mightily on numerous stringed instruments a couple of years ago when we covered his show here. Crystal Garden Friday

Crystal Garden is a modern rock band formed in 2015 by Boyd Tinsley of the Dave Matthews Band. Earlier this month, the band released their debut album Let the Rocks Cry Out, featuring guitarist Stanley Jordan and Tinsley on violin.
