Experimental Pop Group Xui Xui Play the Columbus Theatre Thursday April 13
Every Friday "5 Live Music Musts" brings you some of the top concerts around the region. This weekend is no different, as we feature shows from local folk artists to classic rock superstars. Xiu Xiu Thursday
Xiu Xiu is an experimental Pop act founded in 2002 by singer-songwriter Jamie Stewart. The band is known for pushing the boundaries of popular music incorporating styles from Korean folk to avant-garde jazz. Check out their latest album Forget to see what we mean.They headline the Columbus Theatre on Thursday April 13. The all-ages show begins at 8PM – details here.

Miracle Legion Friday
Before there was “indie” there was “underground,” and if you were one of the cool kids back in the 80’s, you listened to Miracle Legion. The band from Connecticut, led by singer/guitarist Mark Mulcahey, came up in the post-REM period, playing brainy jangle-rock for college crowds around New England and beyond. They re-unite Friday for a show at the Narrows Center for the Arts. Providence band The ‘Mericans, re-formulated with leader Chris Daltry joined by Kris Smith-Lavoie and Evan Sicuranza, open at 8 PM. Ann Wilson Friday
One of the great artists in Rock and Roll comes to Cranston Friday for a show at the Park Theatre. Award winning singer Ann Wilson is of course half of the sister band Heart. Behind a full band, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer arrives in town with some covers, original Heart classics, and some solo material. Show starts at 8 PM. Details here.

Wild Adriatic Friday
The power soul trio Wild Adriatic headlines a show Friday in Newport. The band has been described as Led Zepplin meets Funkadelic. They feature a horn section supporting tunes loaded with groove heavy rock. Count us in! You’re likely to hear some from their latest album Feel and more tonight at the café at Parlor in Newport. Cardboard Ox Saturday
This week’s coffeehouse pick goes to a pair of top RI folk acts, Cardboard Ox and singer-songwriter Joanne Lurgio. The duo of Tracie Potochnik and Steve Allain (Cardboard Ox) bring their lyrical songwriting and sweet harmonies to the Church Street Coffeehouse in Warren. Add well-known songwriter and gifted guitarist Joanne Lurgio to the mix and you’ve got a great evening of music. Details on the Saturday show here.
