It would be pretty hard to measure up against “professional eater” Joel Hansen, who recently came to Camp Nowhere -- located in North Providence, Rhode Island -- and took down thirteen pounds of sliders in forty-five minutes.

The tally? 15,000 calories.

That pales in comparison, however, to Hansen’s social media numbers — on YouTube alone, he has over 375,000 subscribers.

And his latest culinary endeavor in the Ocean State? Over 143,765 views, as of Sunday night.

Camp Nowhere on the Map

“I would like to say thank you to professional eater Joel Hansen for choosing to film an episode at Camp Nowhere for his YouTube channel,” Camp Nowhere’s J.P. Rutkov told GoLocal on Sunday. “We were honored to have had the opportunity to shoot with him.”

Rutkov said it was the regional foodie network that got them connected for the big food binge.

“We got connected through a mutual friend — he was doing a bunch of restaurants in New York and Connecticut for his channel," said Rutkov. “So I called and invited him to Rhode Island.”

On his YouTube channel this week, Hansen gave some love to his visit to Camp Nowhere.

“Taking on their burger slider record featuring fried chicken, buffalo chicken, big mac, short rib, cheeseburger, bbq burgers, chicken parms, cajun chicken, eggplant and so many more,” said Hansen of his culinary feat.

“He is a great guy and gets two million views a week on his channel and across all platforms,” added Rutkov.

And for Hansen? Rutkov said he has plans to come back to Rhode Island for more food challenges.

Stay tuned.
