Cookbook Star Joan Nathan to Come to Providence

The queen of Jewish cookery is coming to Providence next week for a special appearance.

The details? Women only.

More? She'll only speak for seven (fabulous) minutes.

Joan Nathan, author of Quiches, Kugels and Couscous - My Search for Jewish Cooking in France, as well as the host of the PBS series "Jewish Cooking in America with Joan Nathan," is also a James Beard award-winning NY Times Food Columnist. Quiches and Kugels is her tenth cookbook.

Seven minutes, no board invites

Why only seven minutes, and why women only? Nathan is headlining the latest Ladies High Tea, the women's martini-laced networking party created by Providence restaurateur Bob Burke. The ongoing promise of the High Tea is that the speaker will speak for only seven minutes, and no one will ask you to serve on a board.

She plans to spend her precious time talking about "my Jewish mother's chicken soup."

The event is at Pot Au Feu salon upstairs, 44 Custom House St, Providence, Thursday, March 24, from 5-7pm, and is $20, which includes free appetizers, wine and soft drinks, plus the LHT special cocktail.  Nathan will have books for sale and signing.
