RIPEC Announces 2019 Public Service Award Winners

The Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council announced the recipients of its 44th annual public service awards.
The awards will be formally presented at RIPEC’s 2019 Annual Meeting on October 7, 2019, at the Rhode Island Convention Center.

Award Winners
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTThe Robert M. Goodrich Distinguished Public Service Award will be presented to Kathryn Crowley, the East Providence School Superintendent and the RI Superintendent of the year.
Under Crowly, East Providence voters passed a $185,500,000 bond issue to replace the East Providence High School building.
The Gary S. Sasse Distinguished Public Service Award will be presented to Lynne Urbani, the Policy Director to the RI Speaker of the House of Representatives. Sasse is a regular contributor on GoLocal and appears every Monday on GoLocal LIVE's Business Monday.
Urbani has served in the role since 2013. She conducts local, regional and national research and analysis to advance and support policy recommendations for incorporation into legislation for the State of Rhode Island.
In addition, there will be special recognition for outgoing RIPEC President and CEO, John Simmons, who is leaving after more than a decade of service.
