RI Favorites - The Return of Media Commentary
Tuesday, December 28, 2010
Media commentary—something that seemed to be going away with newspapers and other print media—made a big comeback with GoLocalProv this fall.
Media critic Jeff Derderian delivered insights and insider views on Rhode Island’s ever-changing media landscape that simply weren’t available anywhere else. Derderian kicked off his column on perhaps the biggest news day of the year—Election Day—with a ranking of the media winners and losers of the election.
Derderian has tackled every major media issue to surface in the ensuring months since, including a scandal over political donations at MSNBC, the search for a new anchor at Channel 12, and the implications of receivership at ABC 6. He also made the bombshell revelation in one of his pieces that Channel 10 had lost half of the viewers for its 11 p.m. newscast over the past 10 years.GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST
For GoLocalProv, our mission of reinventing media naturally entailed reinventing media commentary—and the results speak for themselves. Derderian’s commentary has become a must-read for Rhode Islanders who want to be in-the-know and even attracted national headlines in the New York Times and the Boston Herald.
