Dr. Hardy joins PACE-RI from Oak Street Health, where he served as a physician specializing in internal medicine. He will be responsible for overseeing the Central team of medical professionals and will report to the Chief Medical Officer.

“Dr. Hardy is a dynamic and versatile individual.  He is experienced and well respected,” said Dr. Nick Nikolopoulos, chief medical officer. “PACE-RI is thrilled to welcome him to our team.”

Hardy graduated from Haverford College and completed a post-baccalaureate program at Bryn Mawr College before attending the Alpert Medical School at Brown University.

In addition to serving as a physician at PACE-RI, Hardy serves as a board member of the non-profit support organization, RIPIN.

PACE-RI, pace-ri.org, is the non-profit health plan for adults 55 and older who have complex or chronic health needs and wish to remain living at home.  Founded in 2005, PACE-RI provides both insurance and medical care, as well as a range of health and social services that include adult day care, transportation, and meals at sites in East Providence, Woonsocket, Westerly and Newport. Taking a comprehensive approach to well-being, PACE-RI keeps medically complex participants out of nursing homes an average of four additional years as compared to their counterparts living independently without the supports provided by PACE.

Mayor Brett Smiley Announces Sheila Dormody as Chief of Policy and Resiliency

Mayor Brett Smiley announced Sheila Dormody as the Chief of Policy and Resiliency for the City of Providence. Dormody is joining the City of Providence with over 30 years of leadership in policy research, development, and advocacy and has been on the forefront of the state’s efforts to address climate change and promote social equity. Mayor Smiley has also hired Johnathan Moore as the City’s Director of Inspections and Standards.

“Sheila is a well-known and respected leader in Rhode Island,” said Smiley. “I am thrilled to welcome her back to the City of Providence where she will play an integral role in the development of policies that address the city’s top priorities including building a resilient city, increasing education opportunities, and improving the overall quality of life in our neighborhoods. Her years of policy leadership will be an invaluable asset to our administration as we make Providence the best-run city in the country.”

Dormody has led critical projects across numerous areas of policy development at the city, state, and federal level, managed highly successful grant and fundraising projects and won a New England Women in Energy and Environment Achievement Award in 2021 for her years of experience in policy advocacy and organizing. In 2014, she served as the City of Providence first-ever Director of Sustainability, helping establish the office and its mission. Most recently, Dormody served as the Director of Climate and Cities Programs for The Nature Conservancy where she led programs to better position Rhode Island to address climate change through innovative greenhouse gas reduction policies, rapid deployment of renewable energy and increased the use of nature-based strategies to improve community resilience. Sheila lives in Providence and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University.

“I am excited to join the Mayor’s team to improve the quality of life for residents in every neighborhood,” said Chief of Policy and Resiliency Sheila Dormody. “This is an incredible opportunity to create a more equitable and resilient future for our community.”

Lydia Flaherty PHOTO: Residential Properties

RPL’s Barrington Office Welcomes Sales Associate Lydia Flaherty

Residential Properties Ltd. announced that Sales Associate Lydia Flaherty has joined the superb roster of agents at our Barrington office. Originally from Millis, MA, Lydia moved to Barrington with her family in 2018 and returned to the area to live after graduating from UMass Amherst last May. In addition to her degree in kinesiology with a minor in education, she has established impeccable customer service skills in Rhode Island’s restaurant industry, serving as a front-of-house manager at Bluewater Bar and Grill in Barrington and as a bartender at Waterdog Kitchen and Bar in Warren.

Family business and pleasure

Her deep connection to the East Bay dates back to childhood, spending summers on Hog Island where today her family owns more than 12 properties. Lydia's great-great grandparents began summering there over 100 years ago and the tradition continues to this day. “Growing up in MA and RI, I have come to love all of the charming towns, communities, and energy that seems to radiate from being close to all things New England,” Flaherty said. “Proximity to Boston, the mountains, and the ocean allows for spectacular living. I love Rhode Island for the combination of coastal grandeur and picturesque farmland that creates a unique feeling of serenity.”

She is the daughter of RPL Sales Associate Kathleen Flaherty, from whom Lydia learned her client-first mindset. Having witnessed her mother’s journey not only into real estate, but also into Residential Properties, Lydia was able to get a front-row preview of her new career. “Seeing my mother join RPL, I consistently heard about the supportive and hardworking environment the company fosters,” Flaherty noted. “Residential is a well-established, successful, respected brokerage that I am lucky to be a part of”.

Like mother, like Realtor

Though she now begins her real estate career, Lydia is still engaged with community-focused causes, which have included Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Gillette Stadium’s Buzz Off for Kids with Cancer. As summer approaches, she will look forward to continuing her family’s traditions with her cousins and grandparents on Hog Island, especially boating, kayaking, quahogging, and swimming.

As a committed professional, Lydia has made it her mission to be an invaluable resource for her clients. Working with first-time buyers as well as anyone with changing needs, she is ready to help guide and support people through the real estate process. “I’m excited to establish my own name in the MA and RI real estate markets,” Flaherty added. “I know what it’s like to have a dream, and helping my clients reach their real estate goals is now my biggest ambition.”
