NEW: RI Bank Tapped in Top 150 in America

Bank Director magazine selects the 150 Great Banks each year and one Rhode Island bank scored the 40th positionin the US. And, there was potentially more good news for Rhode Island.
Washington Trust scored the 40th position in the US. "Consistency, strong management, a deep understanding of one’s core market and careful risk taking benefited most of the top place finishers on Bank Director’s 2011 Bank Performance Scorecard, a ranking of the 150 largest U.S. publicly traded banks and thrifts based on 2010 calendar year earnings," wrote Jack Milligan, the author of the study for Bank Director.
The other potentially good news for Rhode Island was that Brookline Bancorp scored the 10th position in the United States.

The Bank Director study looked ten indicators in three categories: profit, capital adequacy, and asset quality.
