Bank of America RI President Hatfield Announces His Retirement

Bill Hatfield, who has served as the President of Bank of America in Rhode Island for nearly two decades, announced his retirement on Wednesday.

He has been an active leader in the community and in supporting the non-profit community.

Hatfield oversaw numerous changes in the Rhode Island market including the bank’s departure from the Superman building. The building has been vacant for 8 years.

Hatfield wrote in his announcement, “After a 40-year career, today I announced my retirement from Bank of America effective in July. I have had the pleasure of working with a terrific team fully committed to driving responsible growth by delivering for each other, our clients and the Rhode Island community. It’s been a real privilege to serve with a truly outstanding company. I will miss it all but looking forward to the next chapter!"

In 2018, GoLocal featured Hadfield and his wife Susan for winning the Tocqueville Society Award from United Way of Rhode Island.

The Hatfields have been members of United Way’s Tocqueville Society for 15 years. Since moving to Rhode Island more than 37-years ago, the Hatfields have been part of many causes that have created positive change in the lives of their neighbors.

Currently Market President for Bank of America and its Rhode Island senior executive, he provides enterprise leadership for business integration in the market and is responsible for the company’s growth strategy and external brand commitments. He also serves as Managing Director and Market Executive for U.S. Trust in Rhode Island, leading teams that offer comprehensive and innovative wealth structuring, investment management, banking and credit solutions to high net worth clients.

He is active in the community through a number of volunteer leadership roles. He is Board Chairman of Skills for Rhode Island’s Future and Vice-Chairman of Crossroads Rhode Island. He also serves as Trustee and a member of the Executive Committee of the Preservation Society of Newport County, and Director of the Rhode Island Bankers Association. Previously, he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and as Chairman of Junior Achievement of RI.
