The project will be reviewed by the City of Providence’s Downtown Design Review Committee.

This is just one of a number of large scale project being proposed in Providence. A five story project is being proposed on Wayland Avenue.

There, developer Steve Lewinstein has submitted plans to the City of Providence to demolish the funeral home and build a significant five-story residential and retail structure.GET THE LATEST

The proposed development will consume the space that Monahan’s occupied as well as the adjacent parking area.

Efforts to reach Steve Lewinstein, the developer proposing the project and who owns many of the commercial buildings in the Wayland Square area, were unsuccessful.

The project is slated for 62,000 square and includes 38 residential units and two large retail spaces.

And, Providence awaits the fate of the proposed 46-story Fane Tower which is pending before the 195 Commission.
