Healthy hair keeps us youthful looking and never goes out of fashion. Here are 3 steps to keeping your tresses fresh and vital.

He was the lead hair stylist on Sex and the City 2, he made Anne Hathaway fabulous on film, and he's GoLocalProv's weekly style expert. Frank Barbosa, the Newport-based celebrity stylist, brings red carpet perspective to hair, makeup, and overall style.

Let's begin by remembering that healthy hair is always in fashion. And with all the cosmetic work being done to enhance and reveal once again youthful, fresh, faces,  we should be mindful of bringing back our hair's youthful luster as well. Whether your hair has been beaten up by overstyling, aging or stress, here are some surefire ways to regain the youthful hair you once possesed.  And also, of course, how to keep it that way.

One: Diet, diet, diet

Feed your hair with the same attention and care you feed yourself! Dose your tresses with Vitamin B and omega fatty acids are all great for feeding healthy hair and scalp. Fish oils, further, make all the difference.

Two: Condition

Quality makes all the difference here. Do your homework on the best conditioner out there, and then invest in it. It's worth more than any other hair product you buy. When conditioning, add heat in shower--hot water right before conditioner is applied or wrap hot towel around head while conditioner is still in your hair.

Three: Protect

You cover your beautiful skin to protect it from the sun--do the same for your hair. Whether you're a swimmer or a sun goddess (or god!), cover up your hair!  Second, add oils such as almond, coconut, or avacado at least once a week for vitimins for your hair shaft and ends (keeping away from your scalp, as not to look like oily scalp).

Here's to your healthy, youthful hair!

He's just finished styling on location alongside film stylist Alan D'Angerio on the film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner. He's been in the industry for 17 years, moving from hip neighborhoods in Chicago, to Boston's Newbury St, to Bellevue Avenue in Newport. He maintains that his real passion, though, is being behind a salon chair at Frank Antonio Hair and Makeup in Newport.
