You may have noticed that your long-loved foundation has gone missing. Blame it on Armani. Three years ago, Giorgio Armani Beauty launched their now-famous fusion foundation, Maestro. It proved to be a game-changer in the world of competitive makeup bases with its uncanny ability to blur lines between skin and silky perfection. Now some of the big player cosmetic brands have jumped onboard with their own hybrids and have knocked off their old faithful’s.

The hybrids are an amalgam of both water and silicon and therefore, have an amazing capacity to feel lightweight and give great coverage. Women who never liked the feel of foundation before may find this new generation of crossbreeds extremely comfortable and can enjoy the windfall of seemingly flawless skin.

The brightening pigments of the fusions maximize light, neutralize imbalances in skin color, and improve texture. It sounds like a miracle and in a way it is: the formulations are so complex that the face turns into a perfect canvas without nasty demarcation lines, over-dewiness, and other flaws that now seem like sad left-overs from illicit high school makeup sessions in the girl’s room. So where to begin? Here, we’ve extracted three of the best in show for you:
