We're entering the final weekend of the regular season for RIIL Hockey, and several huge games over the next 2 nights will decide division titles and playoff berths.  We've got a new face in the Top 10 this week, as well as a pair of matchups among Top 5 teams to look forward to over the weekend.  Without further ado, here's the updated Power Pack.

Cranston Co-op

Divison Record: 7-8-1 (Division 1 Eccleston)

Overall Record: 8-9-1

 

Cranston Co-op lost a 5-2 decision to Burrillville last Saturday and just manages to hold onto the final spot in this week's Top 10.  Cranston Co-op takes on Smithfield on Friday night and La Salle on Saturday to close out the regular season.

Prout

Division Record: 12-5 (Division 2 Central)

Overall Record: 13-6

 

Prout nearly cracked the Top 10 each of the past 2 weeks, and after knocking off Rogers/Tiverton/Rocky Co-op on Saturday and Portsmouth on Thursday, the Crusaders jump to #9.  Prout closes out the regular season tonight with a rematch against Portsmouth.

North Smithfield

Division Record: 12-5 (Division 2 North)

Overall Record: 13-6

 

Lincoln beat North Smithfield last Friday, but the Northmen sandwiched that loss with wins over Pilgrim and PCD/Wheeler/SRA Co-op.  North Smithfield now prepares for their season finale Friday night against Division 2's top team, Cumberland.

North Kingstown

Division Record: 13-4 (Division 2 South)

Overall Record: 13-4-2

 

North Kingstown continues to dominate as of late, winning 11-2 over Mt. Hope and 9-2 over Portsmouth last weekend.  Over the length of their 7 game winning streak, the Skippers have averaged over 7 goals per game.  NK finishes their season Friday night against Johnston/North Providence Co-op.

Smithfield

Divison Record: 9-7 (Division 1 Eccleston)

Overall Record: 11-7

 

Smithfield lost 4-3 to Hendricken last weekend, a pretty impressive performance that only furthered the notion that they're the best team in the Eccleston Division.  The Sentinels wrap up the regular season with games against Cranston Co-op and Burrillville this weekend.

Lincoln

Division Record: 15-1 (Division 2 North)

Overall Record: 15-1

 

Lincoln impressed last weekend with wins over North Smithfield (6-1) and Middletown (4-1).  The Lions take on PCD/Wheeler/SRA Co-op on Friday and then finish their season with a huge game Saturday night against their top rival, Cumberland.

Cumberland

Division Record: 16-0 (Division 2 North)

Overall Record: 17-0

 

Cumberland cruised to victories over East Greenwich and South Kingstown last weekend, running their undefeated record to 16-0 in league play.  The Clippers face a huge challenge to get to 18-0, however, as they close out the season against North Kingstown on Friday and then Lincoln on Saturday.

La Salle

Divison Record: 8-5-2 (Division 1 Cimini)

Overall Record: 10-8-3

 

La Salle hung tough with the top 2 teams in the state last weekend, tying Hendricken on Friday and losing a nail biter to Mount St. Charles on Saturday.  The Rams finish up their regular season Saturday against Cranston Co-op

Mount St. Charles

Divison Record: 13-2 (Division 1 Cimini)

Overall Record: 16-6

 

Mount St. Charles survived an overtime scare from Burrillville last Friday and then beat La Salle 3-2 on Saturday.  The Mounties close out the regular season Saturday night at Thayer Arena against Hendricken with first place on the line.

Hendricken

Divison Record: 11-1-2 (Division 1 Cimini)

Overall Record: 15-3-2

 

Hendricken had a full slate of games last weekend, tying La Salle on Friday and beating Smithfield and Coventry on Saturday and Sunday respectively.  The Hawks are still the unquestioned top team in the state right now, and they'll close out their regular season with games Friday (Burrillville) and Saturday (Mount St. Charles).
