Pawsox Beat Knights To Take 1-0 Series Lead
Tuesday, September 11, 2012
While it may not be the best of times for the Boston Red Sox in 2012, their triple-A affiliate - the Pawtucket Red Sox continue to have a magical season.
The Pawsox had four players with multiple hits combined with solid pitching from Steven Wright Tuesday night at McCoy Stadium. It all added up to a 7-2 win for Pawtucket in game 1 of their best-of-five Governor's Cup Series against the Charlotte Knights.
The two teams traded runs in the first inning before Danny Valencia belted a 2-run homerun in the bottom of the third to put the Pawsox in front for good.

What's amazing about this season for the Pawsox is the fact that there has been a revolving door in the team's clubhouse at McCoy Stadium due to all of the injuries in Boston and subsequent call-ups. The fact that they are now playing for the International League's Championship is quite an accomplishment.
The win gives the Pawsox a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series with game 2 slated for 7:05pm Wednesday night at McCoy Stadium. It will be the final home game of the year for Pawtucket as the series shifts to Charlotte for game 3 on Thursday. If neccessary, games 4 and 5 of the series would also be played in Charlotte on Friday and Saturday.
Tickets for game 2 are available on-line at Pawsox.com and at the McCoy Stadium box office.
