Following the introduction of bipartisan legislation to allow the United States Department of Commerce to continue to utilize the countervailing duty law on non-market economies such as China, U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), an original co-sponsor of the proposal, issued the following statement:

“While countries like China continue to cheat in trade and gain an unfair advantage in the marketplace, this bipartisan legislation will help level the playing field for U.S. manufacturers and companies that have been harmed by unfairly subsidized imports. I am proud to cosponsor this legislation, which is an important step toward ensuring American manufacturers and companies, and thousands of their employees, are able to compete successfully in the global economy. I look forward to working with my colleagues across the aisle on this and other commonsense provisions to put Rhode Islanders back to work and get our economy moving again.”
