BREAKING NEWS: Operation Deception Officer Pleads Guilty
Friday, January 14, 2011
Former Providence Police Officer Robert Hamlin, Jr. pled guilty today to three counts of conspiracy in Operation Deception, a major state drug investigation.
Superior Court Judge Robert Krause sentenced Hamlin to a 10-year sentence, with seven of the years suspended.
“As a 24-year-veteran of the Pawtucket Police Department, I know how important it is for the public to have trust and faith in their police officers. The actions by Mr. Hamlin and his co-defendants damaged that trust, and is an insult to the dedicated members of the Providence Police Department,” said Attorney General Peter Kilmartin in announcing the plea.
