BREAKING NEWS: Central Falls Union Votes No Confidence in Gallo
Tuesday, May 31, 2011

This evening, members of Local 1627 of Council 94 AFSCME voted 63 to 3 against Gallo’s leadership, according to union president Connie Dube.
“Local 1627’s vote of no confidence sends a strong message from our teacher assistants, custodians, bus drivers, secretaries and clerks that the Superintendent and School Board’s actions of ignoring safety concerns, retaliating against employees who question the effectiveness of programs, and targeting members because of their union affiliation are damaging Central Falls’ educational system,” said John Burns, a business agent for the union. “Local 1627 urges the Superintendent and Board of Trustees to work with all school employees to build a school system with a brighter future.”
The vote comes after the teachers union overwhelming held its own vote of no confidence in Gallo and the trustees last week.

It's funny that charter schools seem to be Gallo's biggest supporters. To bad, she is not in charge of charter schools., but rather public schools.
Is this not another sign that Gallo cares more about union breaking than educating students?
It is in the business of charter schools to support Gallo, she drives some of the best students in Central Falls right to their doors.

This is cheap union politics. Shameless. All of these attacks are motivated from last year's confrontation. Labor is quite clearly playing the media game, trying to impress upon all of us readers that Gallo is somehow sinister. The unions have got to go. Not Gallo.

One of the charter schools actually gets paid by Gallo so of course they will support her. Looks like it's not just the teachers who are fed up with this regime!

400 people can't be wrong. Gallo's leadership is awful and that's why she's being attacked. Spare me the "poor Dr. Gallo" routine...just check w/ the folks in Jamestown and Providence where she left similar messes. They were extremely happy to get rid of her. Review:
1. A former principal is suing Gallo;
2. Gallo has hired over 20 administrators and most of them are gone;
3. Dozens of teachers have called their state reps complaining about unsafe working conditions; (threats against teachers, assaults, both verbal and physical)
4. discipline in the high school is a joke;
5. people who question the policies are intimidated; (I'm sorry, I thought this was America, and I had rights in the workplace)
ALL of this occurred under Gallo's watch. The buck stops where? You would think she would do the noble, honorable thing, and resign. But there is neither integrity or honor in her actions.

No kidding. Surprise surprise! Another bunch of babies don't get their way and they have a little hissy fit.
Look, until we get rid of these unions, nothing is getting fixed. The unions are impediments to progress. Dealing with them is like dealing with the Palestinians - you just can't do it. It's time to get rid of public sector unions.
The biggest mistake Gallo ever made was to allow these misfits back. Maybe you can all call in sick you bunch of crybabies!

Hey Matt: only 88 teachers were "fired" last yr. More than 25% of those left the district. Yet, Gallo still gets a vote of no confidence.

It is the UNION voting against Gallo, all of the sudden she goes up in my poles with people. The plain fact of the matter, CF UNION is the culprit in the problems at the school system. It's not the majority of the teachers, but we all know there are some BAD teachers that are hiding behind the UNION contracts, this has to be stopped.
It's all about the kids and their education or lack of it.
