John Friedman, Associate Professor of Economics and International and Public Affairs at Brown University, joined GoLocal LIVE to talk about "Opportunity in America: Improving Intergenerational Mobility with Big Data."

Friedman, who also serves as Director of the Equality of Opportunity Project spoke to how data show how children's opportunities to climb the income ladder vary substantially depending upon where they grow up, and discussed how big data can play a role in "place-based policies" -- and how big data offers new opportunities for experts to diagnose problems and develop policies specific to each setting.
