Newport! The town was packed to the gills with tennis royalty this week, but Seen knows where they were hanging out, away from the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Superstar Andre Agassi, we heard, was so in love with the food at the Hotel Viking that he took every single meal at the hotel's One Bellevue restaurant (all the big names were staying at the Viking). The new inductee into the Hall of Fame was also spotted shopping at the Newport Wine Cellar. Also inducted was Fern Lee "Peachy" Kellmeyer, who worked tirelessly to help tennis grow and improve athletic opportunities for girls. Other tennis celebs in attendance were 2011 player Jon Isner, Arthur Ashe’s daughter Camera Ashe, and Hall of Famers Stephanie “Steffi” Graff (married to Agassi) and Owen Davidson. And for those who didn't catch the action on Saturday at Agassi's and Kellmeyer's induction, hot bluesman Keb Mo sang America the Beautiful. His new album, Reflections, is due out the first week of August, Finally, did you see tennis media darling Bud Collins tooting around town on a moped? We did!

It was authors, authors, everywhere at The Steel Yard in Providence last Saturday. The authors were Oprah book club-favorites Jane Hamilton and Anita Shreve, critically acclaimed author Tom Perrotta (pictured here, whose novel Little Children became an equally critically-acclaimed film starring Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connelly). Local author Ann Hood filled out the power-quartet. Hood's novel The Knitting Circle is being made into a film starring Katherine Heigl and her most recent novel, The Red Thread, was just named a top 20 book for the beach by The Today Show. The Steel Yard hopes to make this sort of literary gathering an annual event, and with the chance to see more famous authors speak about their work, I think it sounds like a great idea…

Providence indie folk rockers Deer Tick returned home last Friday night to play in WBRU’s free Summer Concert Series. Although the weather wasn’t very cooperative, the show went on at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel without a hitch. The nationally acclaimed band, led by John McCauley III, played to a packed house who demanded two encores from them. Their set was mixed between their original songs and the cover songs for which they are semi-famous. And although they weren’t technically performing as Nirvana tribute band Deervana, they did stick a Nirvana song or two in their set. Even Mayor Angel Taveras was there to pump up the crowd and welcome Deer Tick back to Rhode Island…

She may not have left Rhode Island permanently after all! Emma Watson just announced that she has not actually dropped out of Brown University. In opposition to rumors that she quit studying English literature at the school to transfer to England’s Oxford University, she insisted that she is still enrolled at Brown, she’s just doing a year abroad. She said, “I'm going to Oxford in the fall, to study English for a year. Just to explain, I haven't left Brown. I'm still

enrolled at Brown, but I'm doing my third year abroad to study - at home." Now that the final Harry Potter movie is heading to theaters, she has more time to focus on her education, although she will still be working on other acting projects, such as the upcoming film The Perks of Being a Wallflower. So keep an eye out for her in a year hanging around College Hill…

He’s best known for playing perfect dad Danny Tanner on Full House, but Bob Saget’s comedy show last Friday night was definitely not child-friendly. He performed to a full house as part of the Newport Summer Comedy Series at the Newport Yachting Center, and was spotted eating out while in town at The Mooring Restaurant. Newport has been a hotbed for comedy stars this summer, from Aziz Ansari to the upcoming Lisa Lampanelli, and Saget’s off-color comedy was a welcome addition…

The Ironman 70.3 race in Providence Sunday brought competitors from around the country, but for one racer it was a trip down memory lane. University of Rhode Island graduate Matthew Michelsen is a celebrity social media guru whose clients include Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, and his friends include rapper 50 Cent. The star socialer was invited as one of five media personalities to participate in the draining triathlon. He is a co-creator, with Lady Gaga’s business manager Troy Carter, of a new social media site called Backplane. The site, endorsed and imagined by Lady Gaga, allows celebrities to interact with their fans through social media. He was also the executive producer of a Justin Bieber YouTube commercial. URI must be proud of their alum who can hang around with the rich and famous and still have time to stay in shape…
