BREAKING: Emma Watson Leaves Brown

Monday, March 07, 2011

Seems that being a Hollywood starlet and a full-time student is a little bit too much for Emma Watson to handle. She’ll be taking a break from Brown University while she concentrates on other professional acting endeavors and wrapping up promotions related to Harry Potter.

Watson is going to be very busy in the coming months, considering that she's collaborating on a fashion line with Alberta Ferretti, about to start promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, will begin promoting My Week With Marilyn (also starring Michelle Williams) in late summer, and will start filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower in June. Being a student at an Ivy League university in addition would be next to impossible.

She posted a message to fans today on her website that reads:

Hi everyone,

As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I've had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.

I've decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree... it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : )

Hope you are all well! Thank you for all your continuing support.

Emma xx

This refutes rumors that she had been planning to transfer to another school, possibly NYU. Brown is quite accommodating to students who wish to take time off, so hopefully she will decide to return to Providence once she has less on her plate.
