This is one of Rhode Island's great weekends, and between the BBQing and the beach, check out these great events for your Labor Day fun. (And don't worry… it's not really the end of summer.)
Rhythm & Roots
Friday - Monday It isn't Labor Day weekend if southern RI isn't hopping with Cajun sounds. Now in its 15th year, this incredible festival boasts 4 stages of music and something for everyone with a family tent for kids, dance lessons, all day and evening dancing on 2 dance floors, gourmet food and drink, and the best that roots music has to offer. Providence Dance Music Festival
Sunday You don't have to work on Monday, so don't miss this first-ever celebration of live music and DJs bringing you every genre of EDM under the sun! Three rooms and an outside patio… it's gonna be huge. $15 presale, $20 at the door. Doors open 8pm, music starts at 9pm. Fete Lounge, 103 Dike St, Providence. Saturday - Sunday Head to the West Bay for the 2nd year of this fun festival that's great for art lovers of every age. This year will feature over 140 contemporary American arts and crafts artists along with strolling entertainment including Rhode Island’s own Big Nazo puppets. Look for jewelry, ceramics, paintings, sculpture and home accessories along with festive food and live music. Bonus event: Friday evening, EG will host the RI Philharmonic in concert at Academy Field. 10am to 5pm both days, at the new NE Tech campus, Division Rd, East Greenwich. Free admission. Jersey Boys at PPAC
Friday - Sunday If you haven't caught this fun-loving, high-energy musical that's great for all ages, this is your last chance to do so. It's the story of how four blue-collar kids became one of the greatest successes in pop music history--Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Sing along and have a ball. 7:30pm Friday, 8pm Saturday, and 6:30pm Sunday. Tickets $28-$128. Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset St, Providence.
