Roberts Chemical Company, Inc. Violates Clean Air Act
Tuesday, October 07, 2014
Roberts Chemical Company, Inc. in Attleboro, Mass has been fined and put on probation for violating the Clean Air Act. The Company has been fined $200,000 and placed on probation for five years, starting today, by the U.S. District Court and Judge John J.McConnell Jr.
"Today's sentence emphasizes the importance of having a Risk Management Plan (RMP). If handled or stored improperly, flammable liquids can injure or even kill. With an RMP in place, workers and emergency responders are better prepared to deal with a chemical accident," explained John Gauthier, the acting Special Agent in charge of EPA's criminal program in Rhode Island.
Roberts Chemical Company, Inc, is expected to issue a public apology in addition to the fine and probation
