NBC 10 claims to have won the November ratings battle for Southern New England. According to recently released preliminary data from the Nielsen Company, WJAR (NBC 10) was the most watched television news station in the region during the recently completed ratings period.

These ratings occurred while WJAR was unavailable to Dish Network subscribers for much of the November sweeps period. Despite this carrier outage, NBC 10 News claims to be the most dominant television news source in the Providence-New Bedford market, featuring the number one newscasts in all time periods with the exception of NBC 10 News at Noon, which was in a statistical tie for first place.

Patrick Wholley, General Manager of competing news outlet WPRI said these household ratings "show that broadcast television and online news are still extremely relevant, and all of the local news outlets are extremely close and competitive." He also went on to add, "At the end of the day, ratings for all of our news programs, except for one, grew, while nearly all of WJAR's dropped."

NBC 10 stated that investigative reports from their I-Team contributed to WJAR’s November success. These investigative reports included reporter Jim Taricani’s undercover strip club investigation, Parker Gavigan's exposure of a Tiverton town employee who regularly spent town time working on personal projects, and reporter Katie Davis' compiling of all of the letters the Providence Diocese has sent to state police over the last 10 years outlining accusations of police abuse.
