This past week the Volvo Ocean Race was held in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Spain. During the race, Team Vestas Wind had their ship grounded and severely damaged. Incredible video and pictures of the wreck have now been released.

"The crew ran aground on St Brandon late Saturday evening, 250 miles northeast of Mauritius and spent the night onboard, lashed by waves and battered against rocks before transferring to a life raft in the early morning, and then rescued at dawn by fishing boats," said Robert Penner of Volvo Ocean Race.

The nine-man crew finally made it back to Shore on Wednesday, December 3, when they arrived in Mauritius via the fishing boat “Eliza”, telling of their amazing escape in a collision with shoals in the Indian Ocean which grounded their boat over four days ago.

Prior to that, the crew spent over 3 days on a nearby islet, while having food being airdropped to them before the transfer to Mauritius finally arrived on Wednesday.
