Shea HS Basketball Star Erickson Bans Commits to Bryant

Shea High School basketball star Erickson Bans has verbally committed to Bryant University, according to CBS’ Jon Rothstein.

Bans is the first player in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League to score more than 2,000 points in the last 20 years.

He is ranked as a two-star recruit by Verbal Commits and also had offers from Hofstra and Niagara.

He will join Bryant in September of 2020. 

About Bans

Bans is listed as a six-foot, 165-pound point guard, who is in the midst of his senior year at Shea High School. 

According to the New England Recruiting Report, he is ranked as the 44th best prospect in New England and the third-best prospect in Rhode Island.

This season, Bans has led Shea to a 6-1 overall record and just one game out of first place in Division II.

Earlier this season, Bans poured in 49 points against Woonsocket High School.

Last week, he scored 35 points on the road at Chariho High School.

Bryant This Season

So far this season, Bryant is 9-7 overall and 1-2 in the Northeast Conference.

Most recently, Bryant lost to Mount St. Mary’s 67-65 at the Chace Athletic Center on Saturday.

Bryant returns to action on Wednesday, January 15 when they battle Merrimack.

Game time is set for 7 p. m.
