Providence College men's basketball team member LaDontae Henton has been arrested on domestic violence charges, GoLocalProv learned today.

Multiple sources have told GoLocal that Henton was arrested.

The 6'6" sophomore forward from Lansing, MI, is considered a potential future first-round NBA draft pick. He averaged 13.0 points per game in his second season with the Friars in 2012-13 and is slated to return for his junior season this fall.

Henton, who graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing in 2011, led the Friars in rebounding for the second consecutive season, grabbed 282 rebounds for an 8.3 rebound per game average. He also finished third on the team in scoring. Henton received the Top Rebounder Award at the Friars' annual end-of-year banquet at the Omni Hotel in Providence in mid-April.

GoLocalProv.com called Friars coach Ed Cooley for comment but the call went unreturned.  Sports Information Director Arthur Parks referred GoLocalProv.com to PC spokesman Steven Maurano who said that the school could not comment on the matter due to federal privacy laws protecting college students.
