Bryant Knocks Off First Place Merrimack 61-52

The Bryant Bulldogs men’s basketball team earned one of their biggest wins of the season on Tuesday night, beating the first-place Merrimack Warriors 61-52 at the Chace Athletic Center on Bryant’s campus.

Bryant was led by junior Hall Elisias, who scored a career-high 15 points in the game, while Juan Cardenas and Michael Green III each had 13 points.

The win improves Bryant to 13-14 overall and 5-9 in the NEC, while Merrimack falls to 18-10 overall and 12-3 in the NEC.

Merrimack is in its first season as a Division I program.

Bryant Beats Merrimack 

After Bryant trailed by one, 29-28, at the half, Merrimack opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take a 37-28 lead in the opening minutes.

The Bulldogs would trail by ten, 42-32, with just over 16 minutes to play in the game after a free throw from Merrimack’s Jaleel Lord.

From there, Bryant would go on a 14-0 run capped off by a three from Benson Lin to give the Bulldogs a 46-42 lead with 9:11 left to play.

Merrimack would get within two, 48-46, on a jump shot by Lord with 8:14 to play.

However, the Bulldogs would respond.

Bryant would go on an 8-1 run capped off by a jumper from Green to take a 56-47 lead with 4:10 to play in the game.

Merrimack would get back within four, 58-52, with 2:52 to play, but they would not score the rest of the game.

The Bulldogs would add three points to take the 61-52 win.

Bryant shot 47% from the field in the game and 35% from behind the three-point line.

Next Up

Bryant returns to action on Friday, February 21 when they visit St. Francis Brooklyn.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
