Hare appeared in 27 games last season, starting 19. He averaged 5.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, shooting 58.5% from the field in just under 20 minutes per game of action.

The University statement said neither the basketball program nor the athletics department is allowed to comment on the situation any further, per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

A native of Saginaw, Michigan, Hare was URI’s most highly touted recruit in the Class of 2012.
