BREAKING: Francona Out As Sox Manager

It’s official. Terry Francona is out after eight seasons as manager of the Boston Red Sox.

Francona led the team to two World Series titles during his tenure, but after a second consecutive season of missing the playoffs, the two sides will part ways.

The Red Sox completed one of the biggest collapses in baseball history Wednesday in a loss to the Baltimore Orioles. The team led the Tampa Bay Rays by 10 games in the Wild Card race that beginning of September. The Rays came from behind to win against the New York Yankees Wednesday to clinch a playoff spot.
