After Close Game Early, URI Blows Out Bryant in Men’s Basketball

The Bryant University Bulldogs looked like they might have an upset brewing with the game tied early in the second half against the University of Rhode Island Rams at the Ryan Center in Kingston on Friday night.

But, Rhode Island turned on a Frank Keaney-like running game and blew out the Bulldogs in the second half. 

The Rams won 83-64.

URI's Mitchell brothers dominated Bryant combining for 30 points and 25 rebounds.

The Rams were led by balanced scoring —Makhel Mitchell had 17 points and 7 rebounds; Ishmael Leggett, 13 points; Makhi Mitchell, 13 points and 17 rebounds; and Jeremy Sheppard, 10 points.

The win gives the Rams a 2-0 start.

URI shot 50% from the field and scored 42 points in the paint.

Bryant was led by Charles Pride who led all scorers with 25 points.
