James Lathrop Is Rhode Island’s only hope for restoring transparency in pension and financial matters.

If elected as Rhode Island’s next State Treasurer, Lathrop could make history by restoring transparency and accountability to the state pension—public scrutiny which was eliminated under former treasurers Gina Raimondo and her disciple, Seth "Kid" Magaziner.

Notably, Lathrop would be the ONLY state treasurer in the nation to restore, after 15 years of growing Wall Street-mandated secrecy, full transparency in pension matters.

Getting to know Lathrop, seeing his past commitment and actions towards transparency in government, and his current pledge of transparency toward for Rhode Island's pensions, I am impressed. I am also hopeful that others will follow his lead and agree that transparency is essential to a better government.

Lathrop is a well-trained and educated financial professional who understands the work that needs to be done.  His past accomplishments show he is a person of action and not just ideas.  He understands the work he does impacts individuals and never losses sight of that.

I like his slogan that he is financially conservative and socially responsible.

Lathrop is committed to the job of Treasurer and has made it clear that he has no aspirations in politics other than this position. Unlike his predecessors, he will not use state pension assets to further his political ambitions by fundraising from Wall Street gunslingers. The world's pensions are in turmoil and we need individuals dedicated to the task on hand without the distraction of their next political position.

For these reasons, I fully endorse James Lathrop to be Rhode Island's next State Treasurer and I encourage you to vote him into office.
