Knight said in a press release, “I am here tonight to announce that I am running to be Rhode Island’s next Attorney General. Rhode Island is a special place and it’s our home. We need an Attorney General who will keep us safe from criminals whether they are on the street corner, lurking on the internet, in the board room or in the White House.” Knight is a Democrat.
“I have the experience, integrity, knowledge of our criminal justice system and record of getting results that Rhode Island needs in our next Attorney General. I will fight every day to keep Rhode Islanders safe and to protect all our rights. Public service is in my blood. I have served in the military, been a prosecutor in the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office, been a criminal defense attorney and a state legislator where I delivered results,” added Knight.
“I led the fight to ban assault weapons, worked to secure reproductive rights and passed laws to make our communities safer. As a lawyer with more than a decade of courtroom experience, I know what it takes to get justice and how to stand up to bullies like Donald Trump. Join my campaign because what Rhode Island needs right now is fewer Kings and more Knights,” said Knight.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He attended Emerson College as an undergrad and Suffolk Law School.
Later, he was a prosecutor at the Attorney General’s office.
