Frequent GoLocal LIVE contributor Jennifer Lawless has been named co-editor of the American Journal of Political Science.

She will serve a four-year term along with co-editor Kathleen Dolan of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

Lawless joins GoLocalProv News Editor Kate Nagle just about every Tuesday to discuss local and national politics.

She begins her term in June of 2019.

About Lawless

Lawless is currently the Commonwealth Professor of Politics in the Woodrow Wilson Department of Politics at the University of Virginia.

Prior to that, she served as the Director of the Women’s and Politics Institute at American University in Washington D.C.

She is the author or co-author of six books, including Women on the Run: Gender, Media, and Political Campaigns in a Polarized Era (with Danny Hayes) and It Still Takes a Candidate: Why Women Don’t Run for Office (with Richard L. Fox).

In 2006, Lawless ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in the Democratic Primary in Rhode Island's 2nd congressional district.
