NEW: Former Rep Gemma Gets Job with Legislature
Monday, June 10, 2013
Speaker of the House Gordon Fox's office has confirmed that former state legislator Al Gemma has been hired for a part-time Legislative Assistant with an annual salary of $27,258.40.
Gemma was defeated by David Bennett in the 2010 Democratic Primary. The Warwick legislator had been an outspoken fiscal hawk when he was in office. He was targeted by the unions for defeat in 2010.
The appointment of Gemma does not violate the state's revolving door statute as Gemma has been out of office for two years.
