In a Facebook post, Miller wrote:

I am proud of the tangible changes we see every day in Federal Hill,  the West End, and Ward 13's corner of the Valley Arts: the park improvements, the public infrastructure, the new schools under construction, and so many small things that make a big difference in our day-to-day quality of life – things that many residents shared with me and we worked together to fix. I will use the final six weeks of my term to continue working hard for the neighborhood I adore.

I am incredibly proud of the work this council has done to put residents – all residents – front and center in the city we love. From affordable housing to climate change, community safety to immigrant rights, access to high-quality jobs to fully funding our schools, my colleagues and I have never shied away from taking on the big, righteous fights.

Far too often and for far too long, politics has been a game the wealthy and well-connected play among and for themselves. We have always had fighters on City Council, but until 4 years ago, we never had a majority on council fighting for people-centered policies. It’s been a remarkable honor to lead this group of councilors as we created a new way of working in city government – one that stands for renters because we are and have been renters, one that works in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness and poverty because we ourselves have experienced economic instability, one that takes on structural injustice experienced by communities of color, LGBTQIA, and immigrant communities because we are the most diverse council in the history of the city.
