Caprio, 4 GOP Candidates Make Ballot
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Secretary of State Ralph Mollis announced yesterday that Democratic candidate for governor Frank Caprio and four statewide GOP candidates had qualified for the ballot. The four Republican candidates were: Heidi Rogers for lieutenant governor, Catherine Terry Taylor for Secretary of State, Erik Wallin for Attorney General, and Kerry King for General Treasurer.
Local and state candidates had to file enough signatures last Friday to appear on the ballot. Most local offices require 50 signatures, while candidates for governor must get 1,000. The Secretary of State’s office has until this Friday to confirm all of the signatures.
On the day the signatures were due, four Democrats immediately qualified for the ballot: Liz Roberts for lieutenant governor, Peter Kilmartin for Attorney General, Gina Raimondo for General Treasurer, and Mollis himself for re-election as Secretary of State.
