WW II Veteran Robert W. Chappell Dies at 95

Robert W. Chappell, 95, passed away peacefully at Kent Hospital on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024. He was the husband of the late Louise (Faella) Chappell. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Chester and Alice (Cassidy) Chappell.

 

Robert was a volunteer with the South County Ambulance for 15 years and with the Wakefield Fire Department. Following Bob’s retirement from Narragansett Electric, he and Louise traveled to Italy, Hawaii, England and the Grand Canyon. He enjoyed fantasy football and was an avid sports fan. Robert also collected stamps and coins. In his spare time, he would do research on his ancestry. Robert was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the Philippines.

 

He is survived by a son, David Chappell, and his wife Michela; two grandchildren, Haley and her husband Kelse and John Chappell; two great-grandchildren, Evelynn and Sam; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Chester, Conrad and Richard Chappell.

 

The family sends their gratitude to the staff at Alpine Nursing for their compassion and dedication shown to Bob during the last three years.

 

Visitation for Robert will be held Monday, April 8th from 10 AM to 11 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.
