Retired Optician and Business Owner, James Raymond Sohar, Passes at 82
Jim was proud to Serve with the U.S. Army over in Korea in the late fifties as a photographer and filmmaker. He loved his optical career, which lasted over 40 years, as owner and operator of Cranston Optician and Providence Optical. He treasured the friendships with all who walked through his door. Jim built his business on Gansett Avenue in Cranston and later moved to Providence where he established Providence Optical. From there he built a home and retired on Prudence Island for 20 years.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, Kathleen, James, and David Sohar; his stepchildren, Brian Fagan, Kevin Fagan, and Elizabeth (Fagan) White. He will be sadly missed by his 6 grandchildren for whom he provided much entertainment.

Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Providence Community Preparatory School or Our Lady of Prudence Chapel on Prudence Island.
