Marine Colonel Robert T. Forte of Saunderstown Dies at 71

Colonel Robert Thomas Forte, USMC, Retired passed away at the age of 71 at his home in Saunderstown, RI on Saturday, February 27, 2022 following a near ten-year battle with cancer.
Robert is survived by his wife, Margaret; their children Robert and Laureen; his two grandchildren Lilly and Nicolas; his two sisters Pamela and Susan; and his brother Donald.
Born on August 5, 1950 Robert spent close to thirty years in the United States Marine Corps followed by nearly another decade serving his country as a counterintelligence operator for the Defense Intelligence Agency based in Washington DC.
Prior to joining the Marine Corps, Robert attended high school at Boston Latin School where upon graduation he would go on to attend and receive his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Northeastern University.
Robert continued his post-secondary education, first obtaining a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, which was then followed by his earning his Master of Arts degree in National Security & Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
When not defending his country Robert enjoyed practicing and teaching the Chinese martial arts form he had achieved the rank of Grand Master in, Xing Yi Quan, reading and speaking Mandarin Chinese, one of several languages he was fluent in, running, reading, fishing and traveling the world with both his friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 4-7 pm in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 10 am in the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home. Committal prayers will follow in the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
