Joseph Silva Gomes Passes at 81

Joseph Silva Gomes, 81, of Francine Street passed away on March 8, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital.  He was the husband of Gilberta Maria (Alves) Gomes.  

Born in Relva, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Joao and Maria da Conceiçao (Silva) Gomes.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Aida Cabral and her husband Luis of Bristol; Joseph Gomes of Bristol; two grandchildren Marc Cabral of Bristol; Haley Gomes of North Providence and a great-granddaughter, Sara Cabral of Bristol.  He was the brother of John Gomes and his late wife Lurdes Gomes. He was also preceded in death by his sister Odilia Fernandes and her husband Teotónio.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gomes was educated in Portugal and employed by General Cable Company before retiring in 2000.

His funeral services will be held Monday, March 14th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground.

Calling hours are Sunday 2 -4 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth's Church.
