Athena “Sam” Joannidi, of Johnston, Passes at 66

Athena Louise Joannidi, 66, of Johnston, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on July 17, at Women and Infants Hospital. 

Athena was born on February 5, 1955, in Brookline MA. On August 4, 1955, Athena was adopted by the most amazing parents, Athenasio Achilles and Lillian Hampartzum Joannidi.

She attended North Attleboro High School and received an Associates' degree in Phlebotomy from CCRI.

Athena was a devoted and loving daughter, mother, mother-in-law, sister, Yaya, and friend. She will truly be missed by everyone she touched.

Athena was the daughter of the late Athenasio Achilles Joannidi, she is survived by her mother Lillian Joannidi of Cumberland, her beloved children, Jimmy Picchi and Dawn Mendoza, both of Johnston, her daughter-in-law, Dawn, son-in-law, Eddie, brother, Harold Joannidi, 4 grandchildren, James Picchi, Ashley Mendoza, Rachael Mendoza, Madison Picchi and nephew, Nicholas Joannidi.

 

A memorial service will be held at Keefe Funeral Home, Lincoln, RI, on Thursday, July 22 from 4 pm to 7 pm.
